"No Introduction Necessary"

I got to go on quite a date Saturday night with a boy in my ward, Justin. This was one of those pick-a-name-take-them-out scenarios, and it was great because Justin and I get along really well and are great friends. I knew we'd have a good time without any drama or awkward-asking-for-a-second-date trash. What I DID NOT know was that it would be the best night of our lives... well, at least Justin's.

I took him to the Cheesecake Factory in Murray since he has never been there and I love it. We put our name down and they said the wait was 85-90 minutes. HOLY DANG! I told Justin that the whole purpose of the date was CF, so we were going to wait it out by walking around Fashion Place Mall.

We spent some time sitting in massage chairs and checking out the latest gadgets at Brookstone, then got sick of it and walked around some more. As we passed Zales Diamond Store, I saw a black man with a posse, and he was dressed like a pimp. Long green coat all the way to the floor, sunglasses in the shape of hearts, with diamonds... a staff in one hand and a chalice in the other, which was encrusted with diamonds. A green top hat, and hand bling that said "Magic" on one hand and "Juan" on the other. His posse was not nearly as ridiculously dressed as he was, but were still tough-looking and very non-Utahn.

I turned to Justin, "Look at that guy. Who does he think he is?!?!" I thought that he was a local, just being silly at the mall. They also had a posse member video-recording everything. Justin beamed from head to toe. He said, "Lindsey, Lindsey... do you know who that is?! That is the personal spiritual advisor to Snoop Dogg!" I laughed... but he was serious, and apparently correct.

So, I knew nobody would think this was as funny unless we had pictures to prove it. "Justin, I would totally go take pictures with them if I wasn't so afraid of getting jumped." "Jumped?! No way! These guys are the best KIND of black guys!" "Okay, let's do it."

So Justin and I walked up to them and the video camera went immediately on me! Okay! Justin said, "Hey man, can I have a picture?" and Bishop said, "Yeah, man, come here," to which one of the posse members remarked, "No introduction necessary." Nope, not for Justin. He knew EXACTLY who Archbishop Don "Magic" Juan was! After I snapped a photo, they walked away! I realized I didn't have a photo! Dangit, is that so lame to follow them and ask for one for me as well? Shoot shoot shoot what do I do? WHAT DO I DO?! Luckily, they stopped for a minute and I walked right up to them, being brave, and noticed a posse member with a BYU Cougars t-shirt on over his real clothes. I laughed and said, "Hey man, nice shirt." "Oh thanks, you know, I just bought it over there. I spilled something on my other shirt!" I thought to myself, "Wow, you have no clue what you're wearing." Maybe he's a cougar fan at heart. Then, I, Lindsey Michelle Andersen, walked up to the man himself, the archbishop, and said, "Hey, can I have a picture?" He snuggled right up to me and said YES! Justin snapped the photo, but sadly it is blurry. Sorry everyone.

The story continues. Don't you worry. After my photo shoot with the Don Juan-ster, another posse member leaned over to us with a card and said, "Hey, did you guys get an invitation to the party tonight?" Yep. That's right. We were then handed a flyer with a picture of Don on both sides, dressed in his pimp gear. The party was for a birthday for some guy named "Country Chris" and was in downtown SLC that night. It was appropriately labeled "The 1st Annual Players and Playettes" Party. By this time, we needed to get back to CF in case our dinner time was ready, so we said thank you and left.

The food was great, and it added to the glory of the night. Justin told me over and over that this was the best day of his life. HAHA! So, as we were driving away from the mall/restaurant, both yawning and sniffling because of our colds, I decided to make the night even more fun. "So, Justin, you have a choice. We can go home, or we can go check out the party." You can guess what we did.

We parked a block away from the party and walked over near the club. A few guys tried to stop us about half a block away but we just walked on. "Hey, hey you guys! Where you goin'?!" Justin replied, "Uh, this way." "Hey hey, you guys goin' to the party?" "Um well we got an invitation from Don himself" "Yeah man, you gotta go" but when we got up there, it was closed off, with bouncers out front. We just kept walking and went back to the car. Oh it was fun, though.

You can check out his official site to see more gloriousness, but the homepage is a little risque. Might just want to click on the biography or photo gallery or something. I'm glad I was with his biggest fan, Justin, and that even moms doing their shopping asked Justin who the guy was because he obviously knew.

More Favorites from the Cruise

1. While we were driving in the shuttle back to our car, Tori tried to say goodbye to Carli since she won't see her until Christmas once she hit the airport. At the same time, we drove by a Gentleman's Club with a large sign that simply read, "NUDE"... she looked up and read the sign out loud, but it came out like this:
"Carli, see you in a couple weeks, man. Nuuuude."
Don't worry, there was another family in the shuttle with us, with little kids. It took us all a minute to realize what happened.

2. "We need to find Frank a wife for these cruises." - me... opening my big fat mouth before thinking, like I always do.... then I looked at Tori and Carli with eyes like, "What did I just say? I am an idiot."

3. Everything on the cruise that was awesome was saluted by Tori saying, "Ooster what? Dammmmmm!"

4. I apologize for the spelling errors in the last post. I am too lazy to fix them and I don't even know where to start.

5. These will only make sense to Tori, Spence, and Carli, but... Take an L, Drop a D, etc.

6. FBPP, FBQW, etc. My friend Adam yelled during volleyball last night, just to get a reaction out of me, "FBPP!"

7. To clarify, Matt was the one who drove my car. I never said which guy it was.

8. Matt hooked up with his girl, and we're all very excited for him!

9. Carli's porn-star photos that she uploaded onto facebook.

10. Carli getting caught taking pictures on her own camera of the Carnival pictures available for purchase, then the guy taking her camera and erasing them and almost arresting her.

11. I was restless at 2am one night and went for a walk along the ship. I went on the deck in my flip-flops, slid on water, and gracefully jacked up both my knees when I fell on them. They still hurt sometimes. I'm sure I looked drunk.

12. "This is us sober!" - we yelled that about every time we were being crazy.

I am now a part of that 6% statistic!

In my days at the BYU, I learned useless trivia about the travel industry. One thing I remember is that only 6% of Americans had been on a cruise. I remember thinking that was super low but that it made sense. Well, I definitely am a part of that statistic now! WOOT! For pictures and captions that explain a lot of the trip... please visit my facebook album.

A quick rundown:
Day one: We didn't have any cruise documents because they wouldn't print from my computer. This was especially awesome since I didn't think they were necessary. Good thing we got there plenty early and they ran our passports and found our documents after running back and forth asking people what to do! We had driven all through the night and were exhausted and confused! We got on the cruise finally and were pretty much overcome by elation. This worked out great since the name of the ship was the Carnival Elation. The boat rocked quite a bit and I got pretty sick that night. Dinner was awesome. Our room was bigger than we imagined. The food was amazing and we had 24-hour ice cream cones available.

Day two: I got up and exercised a bit on the top deck. I then got in the elevator to go back down to our stateroom, and the two guys I had just checked out in the hot tub got in with me and some Asians (which demographic made up about 1/2 of the cruise). I did not have any makeup on, I have see-through eyelash disease, my pants had holes in them, and I was in pjs. Naturally, I was looking away, trying not to be seen by these hot boys. The Asians asked one of them, "Where are you from?" The cuter, shorter one answered, "Utah." WHAT WHAT WHAT WHAT?!?!?!? I couldn't pass up the opportunity so I said, "Oh what? I'm from Utah." "No way, what city?" "Orem." "Get out, that's where I'm from!" Yep. Matt lives by Harmons. Two miles away from me almost my whole life and I met him in an elevator on a cruise to Mexico. Kurtis, the taller one with red hair, is from Idaho. They are siblings in law. Matt's sister married Kurtis' brother or something like that. So we talked for a bit but I mostly just wanted to go put on makeup and tell the girls I found the hottest boys on the ship and they're Mormon. I started walking off but Matt mentioned we'd see each other around and I was like yep and walked away. I walked as fast as I could back to the stateroom and yelled "I found them!" Tori jumped out of bed and Carli decided to change into a shirt with sleeves since the boys are Mormon. HAHAAH. So, yeah, they're 21, Matt has been back three weeks from his mission to Ukraine, and Kurtis has been back three months from Mexico City. I'm way too old for them but we had a great time anyway. I described them to Carli, and she decided to go find them. She did, and knew them right away. I joined her (with makeup) and we talked to them for a bit. They asked if we wanted to jump off the boat with them to go to Cabo the next day, then said they'd find out our stateroom number somehow and wake us up. We did a bunch of activities.... ate a lot... got ready for formal night, took pictures on the ship, watched a movie, and went to bed.

Day three: We woke up and made port in Cabo San Lucas. We took a water bus to the pier from where the cruise ship laid anchor. Once we were on the pier, the Mexicans just absolutely swarmed around us, trying to get us to use their snorkeling services, water taxis, etc. One was especially persistent. He asked where we were from and said he had a cousin in Salt Lake, who is a Mormon, so he decided to give us a deal. $25 per person for water taxi to Lover's Beach, snorkeling gear, etc. Spencer said his friends had just done it for $10 each and the Mexican wasn't buying it. Then he saw Spencer's watch. The watch was $80 a year ago, for which Spencer paid $35, and the Mexican asked for it. Spence argued with him for a minute, saying it was worth $80 and that he would give it to him if he let us all go do everything for free. Finally, he consented. WOOT! Raul, our water taxi driver, knew little English, but he knew enough to make jokes. "This is Lover's beach. The other side is called divorce beach. On Lover's Beach, two go on, three come off. On divorce beach, two go on, one comes off." Okay, Raul. We went snorkeling. I saw some swordfish-looking creatures, some big blue/green fish, a sea urchin, a starfish, and I swam in a school of little fishies. Wow it was amazing. The water is crystal. Oh man oh man oh man. I loved it. Then, we got lunch in town at a little cantina. The chips and salsa were amazazazing and Tori, Carli, and I were very attracted to one of the waiters. He was ADORABLE! We called him the triple M from that day on. "Mexican Man Meat" Carli and I agreed that after centuries of them checking out our bodies and ogling us, we had a right to want this one guy. MMM. We got back on the water bus and went back to the ship. Dinner was great. We watched a movie and went to bed. I started to think that our dinner friend Frank (Asian 31-yr old from San Diego) had a crush on Carli. That made things awkward for the rest of the cruise. Frank was freaking hilarious. He was like William Hung but more into pop culture. "This girl tried to sing Christina Aguilerra, but she was awful. She didn't even sound like her. She more just read the words." He knew more celebrity refernces than I did. What a hoot.

Day four: Another day at sea. Carli and I met up with Matt and Kurtis at breakfast and gave them a hard time for not jumping off the boat with us, even though none of us actually even went to the designated meeting place. Ha... we decided to play some cards in the card room for a while and they finally met Tori. Poor Tori had been pretty sick and she kept us up all night moaning with a fever. Matt and Kurtis then took us to the arcade after Tori went back to bed and played air hockey and stuff. Matt had me do a shooting game with him too. It was super fun. Our captain was hilarious every time he came over the speaker. He was Australian and said everything in a great accent. He would announce that day's alcoholic drink of the day... our favorite one he said was, "It has fruit in it. And remember! Fruit has vitamins in it. Vitamins are very good for you!" Imagine that in an Australian accent and you gotta love it. Dinner was great and I'm sure we watched a movie and went to bed.

Day five: We woke up and got off the ship at port in Ensenada. Oh I love Ensenada. I got earrings, gifts for my nieces and nephews for Christmas, two designer knockoff bags (one Chanel for my laptop, one Dolce & Gabbana giraffe print), and the best Coca-Cola ever. I was unaware beforehand that Mexicoke is way better than American. I brought home my bottle as a souvenir. We got fish tacos from a cart and lunch at some restaurant in the richer part of town. The waiter was so nice and brought us all desserts on the house. They looked questionable so i asked what was in it. "Oh just some coffee, Kahlua, some rum, it's very good." We felt so awful since he made those for us out of the kindness of his heart!!! Tori even pretended to drink it, which was funny because you could tell nothing was coming up her straw and she said, "MMmmm." I finally told him, "You know what? We don't drink alcohol. We're Mormon, but thank you soooo much. That was sooo nice of you! We feel awful!" He apologized and looked at us weird. I realized afterward that he probably thought we were all Spencer's wives. Wowow. Oops. We got back on the bus to go back to the ship and this guy jumped on with his guitar and started singing La Cucaracha and Feliz Navidad with us. He called me "Barbie" and the group of us "Spice Girls" and got off the bus once our driver got on. He was hilarious and worth the tips we gave him. What a fun, trashy, disgusting, sad, wonderful city. There were so many beggars, so I paid some little kid a dollar for five things of Chiclets. I understand that's a ridiculous amount to pay for Chiclets, but it was really just for him. Ohh good times. Back on the ship, we got a call in our stateroom. I answered it, "Hello?" "Hey who is this?" "This is Lindsey, who is this?" "Hey Lindsey, it's Matt." "AHH! You STALKER! How did you get our room number?!" "You mentioned it once and I have a great memory" hahahaha... so they came to our room and waited outside for an hour while we got ready, then we played cards with them, walked around, hung out the rest of the night. I got really sick and spent the evening in bed, imagining that any second an alien would jump out of my stomach like on Spaceballs because it hurt so bad. I'm sure it was a mixture of all the desserts at dinner (our last night, I had to get a lot of dessert) and the Ensenada food. Yikes. Spencer studied for his test and Carli and Tori went to the boys' stateroom and hung out for a couple hours.

Day six: we got up and waited for hours to get off the dang boat. We were all tired and a couple of us were sick and just so ready to get off! Once we finally got off, we found the shuttle back to our car in San Diego, and drove Carli and Spence to the airport to drop them off. Tori and I were ticked that we had to drive all the way back by ourselves, but Spence and Carli agreed to pay for 1/4 of the gas money each anyway, so we were okay with it. Once it was just me and Tori, we got on the freeway, and Tori got a call from Matt. They missed their train and asked if we could take them to Carlsbad. HAHA! So we went and picked them up. I said, "Wow, I never thought that those boys I met in the elevator on my cruise would be riding in my car." We drove them to Carlsbad, got lunch together at In-N-Out, then caravaned back to Utah. We stopped in Vegas together and got dinner. Once we were at Beaver, it was about midnight, I was sleep deprived and had been driving all day, and I still am rocking ("Sea-legs") in my mind, so the road was tilting from side to side and I found I was imagining myself driving the cruise, not my car. I decided I better not drive anymore. Luckily, Matt and Kurtis had offered to drive my car if I got drowsy, so I reluctantly handed the reins over to him and he got us safely back to Orem. We talked about the love of his life, my latest romantic news, and he wants Tori to marry this mutual friend they have. It was a funny drive. So, even though the cruise ended up more like EFY than a cruise, it was still a blast and we got new friends out of it. Plus, I went snorkeling in Cabo freaking San Lucas!

My favorite quotes from the trip:
"I am Rose Dawson! I have never been thus treated in my entire life! I wait in line for NOBODY!" - me waiting to get off the boat in Cabo
"We actually got really cheap tickets, and we will be shoveling the coal below deck with the crew." - me to Reggie, our shuttle driver.
"Wow, Lindsey, way to hold up the line!" - Tori laughing at me when I jammed the card reading machine, after just sticking my card on there thinking it would scan it that way, then shoving it in the slot when I embarrassingly realized you had to put it in the machine. Oh, you're supposed to pull it back out? Ooops.
"Ooster-what?" - me, looking at the name of the HUMUNGOUS cruise ship next to ours, the Oosterdam.
"Ooster-dammmm" - Tori
"What is that SMELL?" - me, every five minutes of the cruise, wherever we were.
"How much was it?" - Tori, when Carli was explaining our childhood fantasy of saving a puppy and being offered an award by the princess. She meant to ask, "How lond ago was this?"
"Good for you!" - Tori, in her sleep.
"Tori, I'm okay with it." - me, in my sleep.
"AHHHHHHHHHH!!! AHHHH!!! AHHHH!" - me, in my sleep
"White trash" - Kurtis, when we were playing a card game as his answer to "This is what you call someone who breastfeeds someone else's baby" (wet nurse....)
"Da**!!" - Frank, at dinner, looking at Tori's desserts.
"What? Did you say something stupid? because I sure didn't." - me, Tori, all through the cruise
"Lindsey! You gotta get more handbags! HANDBAGS!! HANDBAGS!! We can't leave yet because Lindsey needs more HANDBAGS!" - Spencer
"Owwieee, I'm sorry, uuhhhhghh" - Tori, in her sleep
I wish I could remember all my favorite quotes, but I can't. :(

Okay, this was long enough. Again, check out the pics to make this more interesting. This is more for my own journaling purposes anyway. I won't be offended if you didn't make it this far. :) I miss Mexico.

Yes I'm Still Alive!

Wow. Yes, it has been a long time. Fear not. I am still here. So, get this. They locked my blog because it looked like SPAM. What? What part of my blog seems like spam? I am not a hacker. I don't even "know how that works" so whatever! So, it may actually take days for this dang post to even show up because they have to review my blog and make sure it's legit. Ha.

Since I have a few different items to blog about today, I decided to do it in chapters.

Chapter one: Baahhston!
My parents and I recently visited Boston to see Ethan get baptized. This was a great trip and was full of family-ness. We hardly even did any sight-seeing at all. I am okay with that because I do make it out there 1-2 times a year anyway. It was so fun just to be with family. I adore my nieces and nephews!

Erin was in one of her good moods at that moment, so I whisper-yelled to my dad to take a photograph so I could prove we're friends. One night, I showed her a picture like this of us together and said, "Hey, we're friends!" and she replied, in her two-year-old voice, "We're not friends." Wow. Them's fightin' words. She cannot be blamed, though. Erin had a horrible fever after we got there which landed her, Marissa, and Grandma Nicci in the hospital until the wee hours of the morning. Not fun... but she is doing well now!

Dinner at Legal Sea Foods! The lobstah. It's like buttah. Here are me and Pinchy in the ever-necessary Legal Sea Foods lobstah photo.

This was the look I was given every time I pulled out the camera after the fever ensued, and this was the day I went home. Oh how I adore her!
The baptism was a huge success, even with mom's doctrinally-incorrect talk about Wilford Woodruff translating the Book of Mormon with Joseph Smith and getting the Priesthood and baptizing him. Not a big deal, mom, really. At least we all knew what you meant. Just think if you had said something like, "Ethan, when you turn eight, it is a special time. You get to be baptized into the church, receive the Holy Ghost, and begin plural marriage. Welcome to the fold." Now THAT would've been disastrous, especially with the non-member who attended. So I say, hey, count your blessings Grandma.

We got to walk the kids to school, go to great restaurants like Bertuccis (my favorite), have a tea party, and have adult time too with one of the most funny games of Apples to Apples I have ever played. The grandmas were wheezing from laughing so hard when the green card was "Hysterical" and the red card read "My Body"... Calm it down, grandmas.

At our Tea Parties, you must be polite, and you must wear a hat. I even spoke with Julia in a British accent and she replied "Perhaps next time your sister and brrrrrother can come" and she totally rolled that r-sound. It was adorable. Also, any time you can order British Clotted Cream or Devon Cream, do it! Put it on a blueberry scone with lemon curd... ahhhh droooool....

On Saturday, after the baptism, we decided we were jealous Ethan got to be in a font and decided to go swimming at the hotel. The kids were adorable. Jordan is absolutely fearless in the water. I loved it. My favorite part of the pool party, though, was the uninvited guest from the third floor. So the hotel is shaped like a triangle, with the middle hollowed out so you can look up and see all three floors and each room. The pool is on the ground floor, in the middle, so basically everyone can just watch you swim from their bedroom window. G-H-E-T-T-O but it was $75/night, so... no complaints. Wait, yes, I do have a complaint! Back to the INTRUDER! First off, every time we are in Boston, or any big city for that matter, I get hit on by a black guy. So I'm walking from the pool to my towel by the parents, and I hear: "Hey! HEY!" so I looked up at the third floor, and there was a black man, holding something like this over the railing:"Hey!! YOU WANT SOME CAKE?!!" Ummm well that depends, sir. Is it laced with pot? Can we share it in your bedroom? Do I need to put some clothes on first? He yelled it for the entire hotel to hear, and I thought he might drop the cake on me, so I politely answered, "Uhh, no thanks" and hid under a canopy for a while. Did I mention I was in my swimming suit and soaking wet? Our new family joke is: "Hey! HEY! YOU WANT SOME CAKE?" now. We love it. Ohhh good times.

Chapter two: Providence, Rhode Island
After all the fun, it was time to return home. My flight was a couple hours after mom and dad's and it was out of Providence, though theirs was out of Boston. So, they had to drop me off in Providence hours before my flight. Don't you worry. Dad told me about an amazing mall in Providence, and I googled it the night before, where I was therefore lost for hours in all the wonderful chances I would have the next day at Providence Place.

This five-story complex is a shopper's heaven. I think it should be renamed "Paradise Palace at Providence Place" but that's just me. Nordstrom, Coach, Tiffany & Co., Nine West, Lindt chocolates, Brooks Brothers, Ann Taylor, Ann Taylor Loft, Gap, Banana Republic, ALDO, J. Crew, the works!

Luckily, I was able to catch a really great sale at Nine West. I got this wallet for $15...
...and these shoes were marked at $80 but I got them for $47. I assure you, they are even hotter when they're on feet.
On that note, remember the dress I wanted to buy for my Xmas party at work and the cruise? "Oh yeah, Lindsey, I remember. The one that was super cute and would've looked good on your curves?" Yes, the very one. SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE! They had it one size, too big for me. So, I guess it's ironic that I tried to lose weight to let myself buy it. Whatever. So mad.

Chapter three: Tori's bday!
Happy bday, Tbird. I love it when Tori abbreviates things to the first letter and then the second half of the word "my b-day" etc. "I cannnnn't handle it!" She will probably murder me if/when she finds this post, but oh well. I love her and had to put up some pics.

Oh yeah, Kiera's prego. :)

Chapter four: Walking/Rocking Out/Working Out
I started walking the past couple weeks. Our Singles Ward has volleyball at the church every Tuesday, so I have been walking there and back (which was stupid because I turned down a ride from a guy because I need to walk to lose weight to date him... but wait... he offered me a ride and I turned it down... well Lindsey... you're the stupidest person ever)

Last night, I finally remember I have an iPod. Hello! Take it with you! So, I did. Oh man, I tell ya what. Beyonce's new song "All the Single Ladies (Put a Ring on it)" really pumps up my energy level. If you have seen the video, please agree with me that she is amazing and if I could move 1/389457th as well as she does, well, I'd probably be married because men love dancers. So, it was playing through my headphones, and I was literally dancing down the street on my way back to the house. I would stop when a car would come by, and it was 10:00pm, so nobody could really see me. I was totally getting into it, too, and it felt GREAT. I am SO WEIRD!

This is what I expect I may have looked like, and I pictured Jennifer Grey as Baby in Dirty Dancing, in this very scene, while I was dancing down the street:

Okay, what a long update. I hope you didn't fall asleep! Also, last night, I was up late because Jenn got me hooked on this hysterical blog all about cake wrecks. Check it out if you're bored. It's pretty funny. Keep in mind, too, they're all professionally done. It reminds me of Jay Leno's Headlines on Monday nights.

NEXT WEEK IS THANKSGIVING!

I want to marry you.

So, today at work, we got a letter for Trump University (we do the coaching for Trump University but obviously do not work for the Donald) and it was by far the BEST letter I've ever received. I opened it and immediately started laughing. We scanned it for emailing purposes, but her handwriting is atrocious as it is, so I will translate for you. I love the photo she included, which is probably from the 80s. Make sure you try to read it from the picture first, but I can help here:

This is what the letter says:

Dear Donald Trump,

I think that 800 billion was supposed to be mine. I had an account with a trillion billion forty million in it on the statement and the bank won't send me checks & a credit card on it. Do you want to fly out & help me, I'm at 19664 Stacey Beaverton Oregon 97006. I don't like living here & need my own house. I'd like an 8 million dollar house, but a 1 million dollar house would be better than nothing. My name is Kerry. I'm 55, I'm at 19664 Stacey Beaverton, Oregon 97006 I want to marry you. We had a date between 1980 & 1984 you met me at Marina Village in Marina del Rey Caly near Los Angeles we went to the Beach Shop Cafe for lunch & you gave me a house in Malibu & said you'd buy me a car. I forgot where the house is Can you send the address. I really need a car. I've driven 11 cars, but don't have one right now Can you buy me a car.

Love,
Kerry

So, we googled the address and yep, she lives in an assisted care living center for the elderly. She is not even a student with us. She must have just seen our address somewhere and decided it was time to send Don a letter. This is the saddest, most memorable letter ever and it certainly had us entertained this morning.

On another note, I did something last night that I secretly wish somebody had been there to videotape. I was in my skirt and cork wedge sandals, walking down the front porch stairs, and I rolled my ankle for the 789,364th time in my life. I then proceeded to gracefully tumble down the rest of the stairs, with two full, big purses, and my leftovers from Olive Garden. Even though it was 10pm and nobody was around to comfort me, I still audibly moaned for a bit. I could not get up for about 10 minutes, so I sat in the cold air, on the cold cement, in my skirt, and texted friends. Today, my foot is up on a stool and box at work with a towel-covered bag of ice. My arm, foot, and leg are all scraped up a bit. Awesome. I just really wish I could see it from the view of another, and have it videotaped. I am positive it must have been super attractive.... especially with me being in a skirt... and all the bags I was carrying.

Another Tag

I was tagged by my cousin, Katie, and I decided to play along! Here we go!

1. I had lazy eye as a child, and wore a horrible brown patch over my left eye to train the right one better. As I have heard, other children wore patches with dinosaurs on them or I can only assume butterflies or Lisa Frank characters, but no, mine were Band-Aid-brown. Thanks, Doc.

2. When I was five or six years old, I told everyone in the ward that my mom smoked, and I genuinely believed it, too. My aunt Bev sat me down one day and said, "Lindsey, I promise you, your mom does not smoke." I remember thinking, "Ha, little do you know..." I thought that when she was in the bathroom, locked door and everything, that she was smoking.

3. I have pretty picky food habits which I have realized over the past couple years. I say no to Teriyaki, sweet & sour anything except Sour Patch Kids, sweet and savory mixed together except chocolate covered almonds, etc., banana-flavored items except popsicles, bananas that are the slightest bit overripe, cherry-flavored items, pie crust, pie filling except cream pies with graham cracker crusts, sushi (which makes me literally vomit right onto my plate, remember Happy Sumo?), jicama, uncooked apples (give me stomach aches), boogers, dirt, cooked olives or olives on sandwiches, bugs, hot pineapple except for Tucanos, more than one piece of fudge, honey except in honey butter, molasses except in gingerbread, fish except shellfish, Moutain Dew, Dr. Pepper, and many other things I can't think of right now.

4. My dream is to be kissed outside in the snow, while it's snowing, and it has yet to happen.

5. I have a slight fear of snapping rubber bands and popping balloons. I hate the games where you try to pop balloons and I am a nerd and was snapped by rubber bands in jr. high band by mean boys. Mean, mean, mean. And the STUPID substitute teacher didn't do ANYTHING about it. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

6. I hate teaching piano lessons because then I don't get to play and the students are never as good as I want them to be, and I am a music snob.

7. I have never had a real boyfriend, and have therefore never been through a real breakup, which is a blessing in my opinion.

OK!! I now TAG

Kim
Heather
Brittany
Candra
Laura
and Jenn

Have fun!

"You don't have to be stupid to be domestic. You can be hot."

3am Utah time: Wake up and get ready to head to the airport. Nothing will process in your head until many hours later.

That was pretty much how my morning went. Heather Beck dropped me off at the airport, and we said our goodbyes. I have some thoughts on travel-via-airline, which I will share after the description of my trip.

Friday: Headed to the airport with Lance and Ryan in tow. I was thrilled beyond reason that I had said no to the Croatia trip in the first place. Why, you ask? What was my one fear? That Lance would have a girlfriend and I would be ticked the entire trip that I wasted thousands of dollars on. Ope, yep, you guessed it. I do believe he is dating a girl from our ward, and no, he did not tell me about it in any conversation. Ever. After he made me move over on the couch, like he was throwing away a stinky diaper, so he could sit next to her, well, it became apparent. Then when she stayed after to say goodbye after all of us had already left... yep. And hearing her talk about him the past week, and seeing the way he looks at her, it all came together. Thank you, buddy, for the nice invitation to your house to watch Ironman and to sit on a couch with you and your lover. So, I'm moving on!! It will be tough, but I will still be friends with my friends and try to not let anything bother me or get to me. Thank goodness for a weekend away in Kansas City to eat two big bowls of chocolate ice cream, snickers cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory, my weight in cinnamon rolls, etc. Thank goodness for Heather Beck!

So, Friday night, I got in really really late and we went home and chatted and went to sleep. Yay.
Saturday: Woke up, got ready, watched the first session of conference where they announced a temple to be built in Kansas City! HB screamed so loud, the roof blew off the house and we jumped around in giddy delight. The next few minutes were filled with phone calls to/from fellow Kansas Citians, who were equally excited and emotional. Went to Target to buy tights since I forgot all mine and they MAKE the outfits I brought, ate lunch at Panera (YUMM) and then made it home for session numero duo and meeting Edward. After that, we went to the Plaza and boosted the economy by each purchasing three tops from Banana Republic. The second one is in a robin-egg blue and I'm wearing it today. I must say, actually, that these models are too skinny and don't look good in these shirts. I am curvy (I know, shocking) and actually fill them out and I think I look good. I need to feel good now so that works great for me. :)

Then, we hit up Cheesecake Factory, our new KC tradition, and got nachos, quesadillas, and snickers cheesecake. Mmmm. Went home, went to bed.

Sunday: Got ready, Katie Woods (from Heather's singles branch) came over and made us cinnamon rolls! She is a babe! We had a really random connection, too. Her cousin is the elder from Lance's mission I've heard him talk about for the past five months... and who he is currently visiting in Hungary. What the?! Crazy times. We watched the first session and ate Jolly Ranchers to pass the time. Lots and lots of Jolly Ranchers. Then, it was off to Heidi's house for dinner and playing with Heather's niece and nephew. Scarlett is absolutely beautiful, but obviously did not like me. We had a good time anyway and I adore Heidi. She is a great example of being a hot mom who is still domestic and awesome. I had grits for the first time and enjoyed ribs for the first time.
This morning is a blur because I have been up for 14 hours and it is only 5:00pm. I do, however, remember being on the plane, asking for crackers, trying to get my mind off the Lance drama, and them handing me this:
Has anyone even heard of "Lance Snacks?" You've got to be kidding me. That was like the time I was trying to get my mind off of Richard Taggart in high school, since he broke my heart on Valentine's Day, and my dad taking me to the movies to help me out. We saw Galaxy Quest. The main character's name? Taggart. Thanks, world. I listened to Leona Lewis telling me it'll all get better in time and felt better. I love her and wish I could sing like her! I miss Heather Beck and am glad to be home with family at the same time. Oh yeah, and if you have anyone you want to set up with me, please feel free. I hope they like drama.
Travel thoughts:
1. Don't put the exit/emergency door on row 13. You poor superstitious people. Dumb Delta.
2. Don't charge extra for an exit row seat and call it an upgrade. Then, when they're not filled, let people like me move to an exit row. I feel safer sitting there than having nobody who is helping with the emergency exits. Dumb United.
3. Who said it was okay again to serve peanuts on the plane? If my nephew were on that plane, you would've been hearing from me. Stupid Delta and United.
4. Don't serve Lance-brand Snacks. Dang, Delta.
5. Don't wear sailor hats. You're a FLIGHT attendant. Dang, United.
6. Don't give me a 4-hour layover in Denver. Stinkin' Travelocity.
7. Don't tell passengers they can carry-on that size of bag, and then fail to tell them they're on a commuter plane, so you'll have to check that bag planeside and bye-bye laptop. Stinkin' Delta.
8. Don't charge extra for checking luggage and then tell two scared international passengers that they will need to check their luggage again during a 1-hour layover in Frankfurt, Germany. Scary American Airlines.
9. Thank you Delta for printing off my boarding pass even at the incorrect gate, for my convenience. That was actually really nice.
10. Thank you United, for doing the same.

Weekly weigh-in

So, this is gross. Just a warning. I weighed myself this morning and was happy but not thrilled with the weight loss this week. Then... I went to the potty.... yada yada yada.... weighed myself again.... DOWN THREE POUNDS FROM LAST WEEK! That is a running total of 7 pounds. Just 13 more to go and cruise time!

That wasn't a tapeworm....

.... And we're back.....

Thank you, NBC, for a great season 5 premiere. It was well-enjoyed.

A few notes to ponder...

  • Dunder Mifflin weight loss competition - this is interesting because I just started a weight loss regime to lose 20 pounds by my cruise to Mexico... which, if I accomplish, I will purchase this dress from Nordstrom for a lot of moolah and wear it on the cruise and to my company Christmas party. Today's weigh-in = Four pounds lost this week! WOHOO!!! I tried to start a mini-office weight loss thing, so it's funny that this was the episode!
  • Mike and Holly... oh what an interesting season this will be! I loved the rap part. I also loved it when Michael "bought" Holly's tickets from her and gave her the idea he'd take her and then what does he do? He rips them up and offers to pay her the next day. As you can imagine, I yelled at the TV screen "Michael!! You're such a freaking idiot!!"Oh man... pretty dang funny. I love seeing them together because they're just so awkward. "I will exqueeze you"
  • Stanley lost seven pounds on his own. He was always so pleasantly surprised with himself throughout the episode, and I especially loved the photograph of him as a young buck.
  • Kelly really was my favorite part of the episode, though those of you who know me are thinking... um wasn't it JAM? (Jim and Pam for you novices)... well that was good too, though I have worries for the season. Kelly took the weight loss thing very seriously. So seriously, in fact, that she passes out from not eating enough and... something Creed gave her from Mexico, which nobody knows exactly what it is...
  • I can also tell you right now that the wardrobe department gets Kelly and Pam's clothes from Banana Republic. How do I know this? Because I own about three shirts I've seen Pam wear and one dress Kelly wore. On this episode, she wore a dress that was the exact same style but a different pattern. "I'm gunna look amazing" - I loved when she said it this time... all weak and looking like death. Soooo freaking funny.

Okay, what were your thoughts on the premiere? Favorite quotes? I tried not to give out spoilers for certain friends who haven't watched it yet. I see where your priorities lie....

Really? An angry mushroom?

Lance says (8:57 AM):
hey goomba
Linz says (8:59 AM):
goomba? haha what is that
Lance says (8:59 AM):
it's that mushroom looking bad guy in mario brothers
Linz says (8:59 AM):
ok thank you

Really? Where did that even come from? Is that how I look? Have mirrors been lying to me for 24 (yes... I had a birthday and decided to not blog about it since my pics were gross... maybe the mirrors were lying after all) years?
.
Luckily, Wikipedia is the only source close enough to complete truth to be under review for canonization. So, I went there to find out more about my new nickname. I have highlighted the words that meant the most to me.
.
Goombas, known as Kuribō (クリボー, Kuribō?) in Japanese, are depicted as brown mushroom-like (or chesnut) creatures with feet, with a bushy brow, and a pair of fangs sprouting from their lower jaw. They generally tackle, headbutt, or bite an enemy. In many of the games, they are usually quite easy to defeat, with a simple stomp they shall be squashed. The Goombas once lived in peace in the Mushroom Kingdom, but they betrayed their homeland to side with Bowser. Some Goombas act as friendly characters in the Paper Mario series, two even joining Mario on his journey. It is said in Super Paper Mario that Goombas have a long-standing fear of Koopa Troopas. Many variants of the Goomba have appeared throughout the years including Paragoombas (Patakuribō (パタクリボー, Patakuribō?)), Gloombas and Microgoombas (Mamekuribō (マメクリボー, Mamekuribō?)). Paragoombas are distinguished by their winged appearance, thus making them more versatile and mobile than typical Goombas. Gloombas are blue variants of the Goomba which live underground in recent Paper Mario games. Microgoombas are miniature, parasitic Goombas which latch themselves onto Mario, reducing his jumping ability. In Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Princess Peach, Paragoombas drop Microgoombas to attack Mario and Peach. Other types of Goombas have appeared throughout the Mario series, although these largely vary from game to game. Goombas made their first playable appearance in Mario Superstar Baseball, and again in Mario Super Sluggers, as a playable character.
In the 1989 television cartoon The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! Goombas are loyal soldiers in King Koopa's army. They often appear in costumes related to the episode's theme such as zombies or pirates. They were included in the subsequent spin-offs The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario W' live-action film, where they were originally inhabitants of Dinohattan who opposed King Koopa's rule, and were devolved into large, reptilian monsters as punishment for this disloyalty.
.
Isn't that sweet? He thinks I'm loyal! and a friendly character! He says I see him through rose-colored glasses... but that can't be true. Everyone sees him how he is. He's just a sweetheart! I hope this new nickname sticks like the others have.

Top 10 TV/Movie characters girls would date

So, there's a pop culture blog (thatssofetch.com) I came across that has a top 10 list of the tv/movie characters you should date, but it was written by a guy. I loved the post and decided there should be one of the Top 10 TV/Movie Characters that a girl should date. I have crushes on every one of these characters, so enjoy!

10. Preston from Can't Hardly Wait

I have had a crush on Ethan Embry since I was little and saw him in Vegas Vacation and That Thing You Do. He is just unbelievably cute! In Can't Hardly Wait, he is completely taken by Jennifer Love-Hewitt and he is totally nerdy and unpopular... but... he is in love with her and she sees that by the end because girls like genuine guys. They just do!

9. Zack Morris from Saved By the Bell
How could we discard a character such as Zack? He hits all the points on my list. *blond hair *cute *makes me laugh *a good friend. What a stud!

8. Derek from Save the Last Dance

The reason I chose Derek is because he goes against all odds for what he wants most. In the words of Mr. Michael Jackson, it doesn't matter if you're black or white! Even with his own sister against him, he goes for the creamy-skinned dancer! And, he's so beautiful! He helps her through the pain of losing her mother and not having self-confidence in an unfamiliar neighborhood. He helps her land her dance audition, and he's there for her no matter what. Ahhhh.......

7. John Trager from Serendipity

A. Who doesn't want to be kissed in the snow in the middle of NYC? Hello! Dream come true! B. Who doesn't want a guy to believe that fate brought you together and that you shouldn't discard that? C. Who doesn't want a guy who is willing to look for you for years? And D., who doesn't want John Cusack?

6. Noah from The Notebook

AWWWWWWW! Noah is the cutest boy ever. He jumped on the ferris wheel to get Rachel McAdams to go out with him. He was of no social standing, his father was poor, and he still went for the goddess. He is a hard-worker and will stop at nothing to get the girl. He even rebuilt his dream house with her specifications. And... who doesn't love to look back on teenage romances and think... I wonder what would've happened if we hooked back up later? And... dancing in the streets? Kissing in the rain? Good grief, how can we resist you, Noah?

5. Sam Coulson from Never Been Kissed

Sam (Mr. Coulson) is the English teacher and a hidden romantic. He has a girlfriend with great legs, but he breaks up with her for the awkward spunky girl! Sorry to all the girls with great legs... hope I didn't just offend you.... but lucky us awkward-looking ones! He gives Josie Gellar her first kiss, in the middle of a baseball diamond, with hundreds of onlookers! He dances with her and tells her how amazing she is, which is wonderful because she's a total loser. This is my favorite movie of all time, and can you blame me? Look at him! Mmm Michael Vartan!

4. Hitch from Hitch

A good dresser who is not metrosexual is always a plus! Will Smith pretty much looks great in everything from a tanktop on Independence Day to a suit in Men in Black to every piece of clothing in Hitch. He helps guys get the girls of their dreams, and gets his own! He tells her she's pretty, asks her out on a fantastic date, and even shows her an ancestor's signature at Ellis Island! He strikes up a conversation with her with no pretense and is just.... hot. Eva Mendes was one lucky woman in that movie. Did I mention he's black? Let me catch my breath.

3. Pete from Win a Date with Tad Hamilton

Pete is the all-around good guy. He is a manager at a Piggly Wiggly. I mean, how cute and humble is that? He reads Modern Grocer, sings Barry White to his dog, and is completely in love with his best galpal. When she is swept off her feet by a hunnnnnnnk, he is hurt and jealous and tells Tad to be careful and tells him about the six smiles! Awwww!! All you girls who have seen this movie are swooning right now... I know it. He goes to chick flicks even though he hates them, but at least he gets to be with his girl. Once again, he gets her in the end because she goes for the genuine good guy. Ohhh man Pete, you are adorrrrable.

2. Matt from 13 Going on 30

The entire movie, you can tell how in love Matt is with Jenna. Even as kids, he is crazy about her and makes a Jenna Dream House. He knows all her favorite things and makes sure to include them in the house. Matt even put himself in the house... then wrote her a song for her 13th birthday. He is all excited when he thinks she wants to kiss him (poor guy) and then is totally shut down but doesn't get offended... just tries to cheer her up. Then, after years of rejection and heartache, he gets to see her again. He loves going on walks with her, working with her and photographing her... he gives her a flower on the set and then can't stop staring at her when they are looking at the proofs. I mean... it is SERIOUSLY the little things that count, guys. Then he kisses her at the playground, even though they're 30. He even helps her find out what's going on even when he thinks she's crazy. Oh my goodness Matt, you can teach me the Thriller dance ANY DAY! Especially if you wear that red button-up shirt in the walk scene. Holy moly.

Last but not least... My numero uno... the number one guy will not surprise those of you who know me even a little... the number one TV/Movie Character I would date is.....

1. Jim Halpert from The Office

Where to start? Honestly? Season one, the Pilot episode? I could list something I love about Jim from every episode of the show. Jim is my dream guy. He is tall, hilarious, a tease, and he is always getting Dwight's goat, as they say.... like in this gem:

Jim also loves Pam and is totally heartbroken when she tells him she can't be with him. He is so sweet to her and is always having fun with her. They are best friends and have the best time together. He lit up when she fell asleep on his shoulder. He teases others just to make Pam laugh. Jim is an all-around cutie pie and will always hold a special place in my heart. I do realize that I sound pathetic. I guess it's like vampire-fans' obsession with Edward. I just am more into the human race. That's just me. Also, check out how nice he is even to people he thinks are stupid. He got up and sang with Michael at the karaoke party. I am hooked.
